Identify this vintage 6-string?
“Creole girls, Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana” -Ben Shahn, 1935
The hardware and adornment harken to the mass-produced instruments of the era but I’ve never seen that particular shape — balalaika-like but very much a six string.

Looks like a cheap clunker.. Awful to look at but I'll bet it sounds bad.
I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

That kind of decorative stencil makes me think of Kay or Old Kraftsman guitars.....
GFI Expo S-10PE, Sho-Bud 6139, Fender 2x8 Stringmaster, Supro consoles, Dobro. And more.

That's an old "Supertone" guitar, sold by Sears-Roebuck. That model was called the "Hill Country". It was sold in the mid 1930's and was probably made by Harmony.
