Player at festival of Texas fiddling

Post by Joel Jackson »

Saw a really great younger steel player this weekend at the festival of Texas fiddling playing with Justin Trevino. Didn't get his name. Looked like he was playing a push pull. Any of you Texas guys know who this is?

Yeah that's him. He sounded great, as did the other players at the festival. Thanks so much William!

Also performing at the TX Fiddle fest on Friday night was Flavio Pasquetto, formerly of AATW, and that night was augmenting the Western Flyers on his Fender Stringmaster. He's Italy's contribution to Western Swing and commutes regularly from Rome to Austin. We had dinner together last week and he told me he's in the process of relocating once again to Austin, perhaps on a more permanent basis this time.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Thanks Herb. Flavio sounded incredible on the stringmaster. I managed to get his name after the set but had to interupt a meal and conversation to do it. Felt bad so i kept it brief. Seeing The Western Flyers play at Twin Sisters was a peak live music experience for me! The whole festival was a blast and I hope to make it back next year.

Craig
A young man named Curtis Clogston is currently with AATW. Since my retirement I'm basically out of the loop as to who the hot (or becoming hot  ) steel players there are in Austin nowadays.
