Sho-Bud Texas
Hi fellow steel guitar friends. As some of you may know by now, I'm working for Sho-Bud here in Texas. Since August 1st 2025, I have been putting together a shop and showroom here in Hallettsville, Texas. I'm repairing and restoring Sho-Buds and other brands here and very soon I'll be building the new Sho-Bud Pro Series guitars. This has been an awesome opportunity for me. I played Sho-Bud guitars from the time I started playing pedal steel until they sold the company in the 80s. Even during the time Sho-Bud was dormant I always kept one around. When Dawn and Will Jackson approached me about building the new Sho-Bud it was like returning home. At Sho-Bud Texas we will carry the full Sho-Bud product line as well as our strings, t-shirts, caps, sweatshirts, hoodie, coffee mugs and more. All Sho-Bud products can be purchased in store or online at www.shobud.com
We would love for folks to come visit us in Texas or Las Vegas.
The Texas store is located at; 103 S. La Grange St. Hallettsville, TX 77964
You can reach Sho-Bud by phone at: 888-450-2300. My extension is 7007.
Email: johnny@shobud.com
Looking forward to helping you with you steel guitar needs.

Re: Sho-Bud Texas
Congrats! Great Rescue!
I hope you can do what Kyle seems to have been able to do with Emmons. A TRUE but NO-excuses high quality Sho-Bud. I am certain, you coming from MSA know a thing or two 'bout quality.
I understood the Sho-Bud name and any rights had been acquired by Fred Gretsch. Have they given those rights up?
Good Luck and a very successful 2026 to you and this new enterprise!... J-D,

Re: Sho-Bud Texas
Johnny,
This is great news!
I was wondering if you would be able to add some period-correct levers to a 1974 Sho~Bud Pro II with barrels behind two-hole pullers? Specifically, I would need a LKR and RKR as my Pro II only has two levers (which raise and lower Es)...just as it came from the factory.
Do you have a source to machine new parts for these vintage steels? Would you have access to the exact machining detail, specs, measurements, etc.?
Thanks,
Don

David Jackson is designing and I am building the Pro series pedal steels. There is much more to the new Sho-Bud company that I will let Will and Dawn elaborate on.

Johnny - Google Maps doesn't seem to like your address. It doesn't point to a specific location. Is the address in your post correct?

Put a space between La and Grange. That will probably work.Kenny Davis wrote: 2 Jan 2026 12:08 am Johnny - Google Maps doesn't seem to like your address. It doesn't point to a specific location. Is the address in your post correct?

There are only two options as I see it.
Either I'm right, or there is a sinister conspiracy to conceal the fact that I'm right.

Since they used the "Jackson" name, I did not know that they had be able to rescue the name and rights back from Gretsch. That's great news! And I also think that's a great partnership you guys are forming.
Now that both Emmons and Sho-Bud are back, might as well call Emmons "Brand X" again!
Best of Luck!... J-D.

Don, we are tossing around the idea of making parts for those guitars. It most likely won't happen until we have a good stock of parts for the new guitars.Don Mogle wrote: 31 Dec 2025 2:27 pm Johnny,
